Idaho Business Entity Search
Idaho’s SOSBiz site has a business search by name or file number, with advanced options for matching, registered agents, active entities and filing dates. Search and a record’s details worked without a login, payment or CAPTCHA in our review.

Search methods offered
- Search by name or file numberOne main text field.
- Starts with or ContainsIn Advanced Search Options. Starts with was selected when we inspected it.
- Search by Registered AgentA checkbox. Ticking it showed no separate agent-name field, and we didn’t test its matching.
- Active entities onlyA checkbox.
- Filing DateA Start and End date in MM/DD/YYYY format.
How to search
- Open the Idaho business search using the button above.
- Enter a business name or file number in the main search box.
- If needed, open Advanced Search Options and choose Starts with or Contains, active entities only, a filing date range, or Search by Registered Agent.
- Select Search, or the search control beside the basic field if the form is collapsed. Use Clear Filters to reset.
- Review the matching records, then select the business name button in a row to open its detail drawer.
- Read the status, filing information, addresses and registered agent information for that record.
What you can expect to find
- The results table has the columns Form Info, Status, Filing Date and Agent. Form Info includes the name, file number and filing or entity type. Both assumed business names and corporate or LLC records appeared, with active and inactive records mixed.
- The detail drawer for a foreign corporation showed the entity name and file number, Filing Type, Foreign Name, Status, Formed In, Term of Duration, Principal Address, Mailing Address, Initial Filing Date, AR Due Date and the Commercial Registered Agent (classification, agent number, name and address). It also had Request Certificate and View History controls.
- Those fields come from one record and may differ for other entity types. Some results showed NO AGENT, so don’t assume an assumed business name has a registered agent.
- Our sample showed the status Active-Good Standing. We didn’t confirm that View History opens successfully or that documents can be downloaded.
Limitations, fees and notices
- Search and the detail drawer were free and needed no login. Filing business forms, annual reports and amendments requires an SOSBiz account, but that doesn’t apply to the public lookup.
- A Certificate of Existence is a separate official document. Official resources list a $10 fee and say you request it by finding the business, opening its information and choosing Request Certificate. We didn’t order one.
- We did not confirm prices for copies or other services, and a free lookup does not mean every document is free.
- Name reservation is a separate process. The FAQ describes an Application for Reservation of Legal Entity Name and a four-month reservation once approved. The public search form has no name availability mode, and an empty search does not mean a name is available.
