Search methods offered

  • Business NameStarts With, Exact Match, Contains or All Words, plus a checkbox for similar-sounding business names.
  • Business ID
  • Filing #
  • Registered Agent NameWith a checkbox for similar-sounding agent names. We observed it but didn’t test an agent-only search.

How to search

  1. Open the New Hampshire business search using the button above.
  2. For a name search, leave Business Name selected and enter the name.
  3. Choose Starts With, Exact Match, Contains or All Words. The similar-sounding checkbox broadens a name search.
  4. Or select Business ID or Filing # and enter that identifier, or use the Registered Agent Name field.
  5. Select Search. Reset clears the form.
  6. Review the matches and select a Business Name.
  7. Read Business Details, the principals and the registered agent information, then select Filing History for filings and annual reports. The profile also has buttons for Address History, other addresses, Name History, Shares and Businesses Linked to Registered Agent, which we didn’t test.

What you can expect to find

  • The results list shows Business Name, Business ID, Homestate Name, Previous Name, Business Type, Principal Office Address, Registered Agent Name and Status. A search for a common word returned 48 matches over two pages, including corporations, LLCs and trade names, active and noncurrent. Some cells were blank or N/A.
  • A profile can show the business name and ID, type, status, creation date, formation date in its home jurisdiction, principal and mailing addresses, citizenship or state of incorporation, last and next annual report year, duration, business email, telephone, notification email, principal purpose, principals with titles and addresses, and the registered agent’s name, office and mailing address. Contact fields aren’t guaranteed for every entity, and trade name and trademark sections were empty in our sample.
  • Filing History in our sample listed annual reports from 2009 through 2026, reminders and changes, and the Business Formation entry, with the columns Filing#, Filing Date, Effective Date, Filing Type and Annual Report Year.
  • The principals list is not a complete ownership register. Corporate shareholder ownership is not filed, and phone and email are optional.

Limitations, fees and notices

  • Search, the profile and the filing history were free. The official FAQ confirms most charter documents can be searched, viewed and downloaded without charge, and lists certified copies at a $5 certification fee plus $1 per page, with an optional $25 expedited service.
  • Good-standing certificates and business filings are separate services, and we did not test their checkout prices or account requirements.
  • The FAQ says name availability is decided by division staff when a business registration is received, not through an online name availability service.
  • A missing document image doesn’t mean no filing exists. The FAQ explains File Not Found can mean a document hasn’t been scanned, and directs users to contact the division for State Archives retrieval.
  • We did not verify that every historical filing is online or free, an earliest year, result caps or update frequency.
  • The public form has no date, status or business-type filter.
