Mississippi Business Entity Search

Mississippi’s Business Search has four tabs: Business Name, Business ID, Officer Name and Registered Agent. Searching, opening a record and viewing its list of filed documents were free in our review, with no login or CAPTCHA.

What you can expect to find

  • Results show the search criteria, a result count, a Search Date and a separate Search Thru Date. In our sample the Search Thru Date was November 2, 2026 on a November 4 search, so don’t expect real-time coverage.
  • The results list shows Business Name, Business ID, Type, Status and Create Date. A sample search returned eight rows, including merged, dissolved, name-change and good-standing entries.
  • A record can show name history and name type, business type, business ID, status, effective date, state of incorporation, principal office address, registered agent name and address, and officers and directors with titles and addresses. In our sample the record’s legal name differed from the searched name, which was shown as a previous legal name, so check the name history rather than relying on the result row.
  • View Filed Documents listed annual reports, amendments, notices and the formation form, with the columns Type, Filed Date and Document. Many entries had a View Image link and some notice entries had none. We didn’t open any image.

Limitations, fees and notices

  • Searching, details and the document list were free and needed no login. A User Login link exists but wasn’t needed.
  • Certificates of fact, good standing or existence, and certified filing copies are ordered and paid for through the document ordering workflow, which uses a login. We did not confirm those prices. The order form warns that some documents need scanning and some generated letters can’t be ordered.
  • The state’s filing fee schedule lists filing charges, such as $50 for business corporation articles and $25 for a business corporation annual report, which aren’t lookup charges. Name reservations are separate paid filings.
  • The search page urges users to use due diligence because of fraudulent filings and lawsuits against the wrong entities. The FAQ says FEINs and telephone numbers are redacted from posted forms, so this isn’t an EIN search or an ownership database.
  • The sample included noncurrent entities and a record from before 2014, so don’t use the 2014 system launch as a coverage cutoff. We did not verify any digitization date, completeness, result cap or update lag.
  • The public search has no date, status, city or entity-type filter. A lookup is not a binding name availability determination.

Sources and research notes

Research for this guide used the official Mississippi sites in a web browser. All four search tabs were opened, and a name search, one record and its filed-document list were tested. The order form was inspected, not submitted.
