Arizona Business Entity Search

Arizona corporation and LLC filings are kept by the Arizona Corporation Commission, which points visitors to its Arizona Business Center for business searches. Trade names, trademarks and partnerships are handled by a different agency, the Secretary of State, with its own search.

Official agency: Arizona Corporation Commission, Corporations Division (Arizona Business Center)

How to search

  1. Decide which agency holds the record. Corporations and LLCs are searched at the Arizona Corporation Commission. Trade names, trademarks and partnerships are searched separately at the Secretary of State.
  2. For a corporation or LLC, open the Arizona Business Center search using the button above.
  3. Enter a business name and choose Starts With, Contains or Exact Match, or enter a Business ID if you know it.
  4. If needed, narrow with Statutory Agent Name, Principal Name or Domicile. For an address lookup, choose the Address Type first and then fill in its address fields.
  5. Select Business Search.
  6. The site may ask you to complete a CAPTCHA (a six-character image test) to continue. Complete it yourself in the official interface.
  7. For a trade name, trademark or partnership, use the Secretary of State search instead: choose Name, File Number, or Owner or Agent, enter the value and select Search.

What you can expect to find

  • This guide does not describe the result list or record screens, because the search was stopped by the CAPTCHA before any results could be viewed.
  • The Commission’s FAQ says most filed documents are public and can be found under a business’s Document History, and that digitized microfiche records associated with a business can be reached there. This is official guidance rather than something we tested.

Limitations, fees and notices

  • The search form was available without logging in, and payment was not requested before the CAPTCHA. We have not confirmed whether a search ever costs money, so this guide does not call it free.
  • The Commission’s FAQ says access to digitized microfiche is free and most documents are available to the public online.
  • A Certificate of Good Standing is a separate service. The FAQ lists $10 for regular service or $45 in total for expedited service. Certified copies and records that are not publicly viewable can require a records request, and we did not confirm those fees. See the Commission’s fee and payment page.
  • The Commission’s database does not necessarily contain every Arizona business, sole proprietor or license.
  • Finding a similar or identical name in a search is not permission to use or reserve a name, and no formal name-availability check was done.
  • Arizona Business One Stop is a planning and business-services portal linked by the agencies. It is not the Commission’s entity search.

Research for this guide used the official Arizona sites in a web browser. The search form was inspected, but the CAPTCHA stopped the test search, so no results or record screens were reviewed.
